Notes for Homer Henry HATCH
I remember Homer as a soft spoken man with a quiet sense of humor. He liked to tease; we all took a turn. He was willing to drive Jane and family all the way to Stillwater to visit us at the farm. He stood at least 6’ tall and had lots of thick hair, somewhat reddish-brown in color. We didn’t have the advantage of visiting very often because 37l miles took travelling time that only one driver had to cover. Herb would drive to Half Day many Thanksgiving weekends and we would be treated to a very special spread: turkey and trimmings. One time there was a blizzard with 20 mile an hour winds in Minnesota the morning we left for our trip. We had to wear our longies and boots, etc. Upon arriving, they laughed at us as we walked across their green lawn and warm temperatures with our laden bodies. Another time I misdirected Herb when we were to make a designated turn in Illinois. Our final lap took us until almost midnight to get to their house. Their Cape Cod house made a pretty scene upon a rise from Route 22, almost a rural site.
