Notes for Artemus G. JUDD
Of all of Artemus and Hannah’s children, we know of Samuel, only. His siblings’ names were learned from records of the U.S. Census information.Artemus was ordained as a Mormon priest on 11 September, 1836. Arza was ordained as a Deacon.
Per 1860 census, Artemus at 59 yrs, of age and family lived in Antioch, Lake Co., IL His occupation was listed as farmer. Antioch is about 12 miles south of Brighton, Wisconsin, where Artemus owned 40 acres of land Feb1st, 1848 . In 1870 Artemus and his family moved to Burr Oak, Iowa. (I am unable to explain the authenticy of Artemus’s middle initial.) Cindy Scott has added lot of family data. per C.S., Artemus witnessed the wedding of Epinitus H. Judd and Rachael Halliday.Artemus left the Mormon faith and became involved with the Strangite movement, after Joseph Smith was killed.
